EAST CROMPTON, SHAW, OLDHAM, GREATER MANCHESTER

This is an incredible opportunity for an outstanding teacher who would like to lead East Crompton St. George’s into the next stage of its development. The school was judged by Ofsted in March 2013 to be ‘good’, and received an ‘outstanding’ judgement in the SIAMS inspection of December 2016.

Above all, we are looking for someone who knows what quality teaching looks like in the primary context and is committed to the interests and future of the children in their care.

**A copy of the full policy showing what can be claimed (and what is excluded) will be available to the successful candidate.

ABOUT THE VACANCY

The post has arisen following the decision of the Headteacher to explore different opportunities after changes to her family circumstances.
We are now looking for a committed and creative leader with the vision, experience and expertise to take St George’s on to the next stage of its development.

There is flexibility regarding the start date. We understand that this role may appeal to Deputy Headteachers, Assistant Headteachers and to Headteachers who can appreciate the opportunity presented by becoming a successful headteacher in a very highly-regarded Trust, offering unrivalled support and development. In consequence, although we would be happy if the successful candidate could join is in April/May 2018, we are fully prepared to consider other dates to fit in with your availability.

The new Heateacher will be one of three presently within the Cranmer Education Trust. The Trust’s philosophy is that every school will have its own headteacher – we serve communities where there are high levels of disadvantage, and our schools need dedicated strategic and operational educational leads. We are all educators – all our senior leaders, including Heads and the CEO are involved in some teaching.

Our new Headteacher must be able to uphold, promote, and model with integrity, the Christian ethos of the school.

What Others Say

Our OfSTED report is currently Grade 2 'Good', but we believe that this does not necessarily reflect current pupil outcomes and progress. The goal must be to re-consolidate the school as good before progressing through to OfSTED 'Outstanding'.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

East Crompton St. George’s is a former Voluntary Aided Church of England primary school which converted to become a CofE academy in 2015. The school joined the Cranmer Education Trust, which currently includes 3 Oldham schools

East Crompton St. George’s Primary
Mayfield Primary
The Blue Coat School (11-18)

and a growing School-Centred Initial Teacher Training arm, Manchester Nexus.

All the schools are within a 10-minute drive of each other.

East Crompton St. George’s is located in East Crompton, in Shaw, to the north of Oldham. It has an attractive site with a big play area and field, and is a forest school. Oldham is an Opportunity Area, and all three Trust schools serve disadvantaged communities. In 2014 the school was expanded by the Local Authority to become a 2-form entry. The extension work, including 4 new classrooms, is complete and the school estate is in good order, maintained by a loyal, committed site manager.

There are 212 pupils in our school, mostly of 'White British' heritage. Around 32% are in receipt of Free School Meals. 16.8% receive SEND support, and five pupils have a SEN or EHC.

"Pupils understand that they have a right to the friendship of others and know that in turn they should ensure that no one is left without friends. Parents feel welcome in the school and talk of the support given by the school as being above and beyond what might be expected of them. They talk of the time staff give to listening to concerns or worries and of the care taken to resolve any areas of concern. Pupils are respectful of difference and are excited to learn from their peers of other cultures and faiths."
